Voting process under control in Mbombela

Despite technical problems in some voting stations, procedures are running smoothly as the Independent Electoral Commission is working on solving technicalities.

MBOMBELA-  “The earliest bird does indeed catch the fattest worm” said Simone Du Plessis at the Civic Centre this morning.

By 08:00 many had cast their votes at Ehlanzeni TVET College and the Mbombela Civic Centre.

Ms Sibongile Nkosi could not contain her excitement as she said she had been waiting for this day to come. “Voting means taking responsibility and that is what every South African citizen should do today.  I am glad I came in the morning and yes, I’ve done it,” she said excitedly.

We also had the opportunity to speak to Mbombela Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Sibusiso Mathonsi who expressed his gratitude to everyone who had registered to vote.  He said: “The voting process is going well  even though there are problems with scanners  in other voting stations, but we’re working on those technicalities.  We are organised and let there be victory.”
