Nurses called to change attitude

As nurses, we took over where Jesus, the greatest nurse, left. You must nurse the patient’s physical, psychological and spiritual needs.

MBOMBELA- One  of the long-time serving nurses in the province, Ms OJ Sibanyoni,  says it is paramount for nurses to change their attitude and know that they were in the profession to serve the patients.

“ Nurses must do away with attitudes and if a patient comes to you for the third time with the same problem, refer them,” she said.

Sibanyoni added that nurses must always wear a smile.

Recently MEC for health Mr Gillion Mashego  warned nurses to stop ill-treating patients in the province. Also read: Patients hurt by staff’s attitude

This comes after he received numerous reports about how they were allegedly assaulting the residents of KaMaqhekeza in the Nkomazi Municipality. Mashego urged nurses to always wear their name tags when on duty for visibility.

“All staff members should always have tags with their full names and surnames to make it easy to identify those who treat patients badly,” he said. Also read:Also read: Nurses celebrate their day with a health walk.
