Government buildings to be renamed

The Mpumalanga Executive Council has reported that processes of the renaming of buildings in the Riverside Government Complex, popularly known as Endumbeni have been completed.

The Mpumalanga Executive Council has reported that processes of the renaming of buildings in the Riverside Government Complex, popularly known as Endumbeni have been completed.

“The Executive Council approved the renaming of all eight buildings in the Riverside Government Complex.

The Executive Council emphasized the fact that the intention behind this initiative is to transform, reconcile, preserve heritage and promote social cohesion.

After an extensive consultative process, The Department of Culture Sports and Recreation received 110 submission for the proposed names for the buildings, and they were approved by the Executive Council as follows; Building 1 – Boabab, Building 2 – Makhonjwa, Building 3 – Indwe, Building 4 – Nokuthula
Simelane, Building 5 – Ikhamanga, Building 6 – Samora Machel, Building 7 – Rhino and Building 8 – Mgwenya,” said government spokesperson Mr Zibonele Mncwango.

He continued saying that the executive council has adopted a comprehensive programme aimed at expediting youth development within the province.

“The Executive Council, through the Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation shall officially launch the Youth Month Provincial initiative in Mbombela.

The provincial commemoration of Youth Day shall be in the form of a consultative dialogue with the Premier of the Province on June 17 at the Church on the Hill in Mbombela.

The dialogue shall be centred primarily on the issue of holistic youth development and ensuring the development and implementation of the strategies to adequately address the issues of poverty and unemployment affecting the youth,” he said.
