Residents vow to continue with protests

NYONGANE – Chaos erupted in this area as protesters threatened to close the main road to Mkhuhlu in their fight against the ANC’s councillors nomination processes.

On Tuesday two protesters were seriously injured when rubber bullets were fired at them by the local police in an attempt to stop the marchers from closing the main road to Mkhuhlu and the Kruger National Park.

Today marks the third day since the commencement of the strike on Monday.

Schools, shops and movement is still at a standstill as nothing moves in and out of Nyongane and surroundings, a thing which residents say they will continue doing until they are properly addressed.

The angry residents took to the streets to voice their anger against the nomination of councillors and nepotism.

Yesterday angry residents blocked the roads with burning tyres, broken bottles, stones and debris from as early 03:00.
