Hard-core criminal to rot in jail

MBOMBELA – MEC for safety, security and liaison, Mr Vusi Shongwe has welcomed the sentencing of a hard-core criminal, Douglas Mogakane.
Mpumalanga News learnt that the Mhala regional court sentenced Mogakane to 96 years imprisonment on eight counts of
kidnapping, eight robberies, two counts of rape and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Shongwe went on and applauded the department of justice for concluding the case and making sure that the culprit is imprisoned as he also thanked the police under the leadership of Lt Mondli Zuma for working tirelessly to get enough evidence to prove their guilt.
Mogakane was not only troubling residents of Acornhoek, this publication also learnt that police officers also faced tough times to arrest him after he escaped at Skukuza police station last year in 2012 and went to hide in some of the unused RDP houses at Shabalala outside Hazyview.
This media house went further and visited those houses and discovered that it is alleged that a lot criminals are using it as
their hiding place and a raping zone for women as used condoms were found lying on the ground.
