Party has its sights set on success

The Bushbuckridge Residents Association (BRA) is certain of taking over the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality after the local government elections.

BUSHBUCKRIDGE – The Bushbuckridge Residents Association (BRA) is certain of taking over the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality after the local government elections.

This is according to the party’s secretary, Mr Cleopas Maunye. The elections will be held on August 3 as announced by the president, Mr Jacob Zuma.

Maunye said they will contest the elections but in only two local municipalities, namely Bushbuckridge and Thaba Chweu and one district municipality, Ehlanzeni.

“I am certain of a total sweep over in Bushbuckridge. We want to take over that municipality so we can give our people better services.

The people of Bushbuckridge need basic services such as water, roads and refuse collection.

We are going to revitalise all agricultural projects and mills to stimulate economic growth and create job opportunities.

We have a plan for the people in and around Bushbuckridge,” he said.

“As for Thaba Chweu Local Municipality,” he continued, “you must remember that we didn’t contest Thaba Chweu in 2011, we only contested Bushbuckridge but this time around we will and our preparations are at an advanced stage.

We are ready to occupy a few seats there if we can’t take it completely. We actually started as early as January, where we engaged and encouraged people to register to vote.

“We had a massive campaign from January on voter registration and people responded positively hence we recorded the number-two spot on registration in the province.

We have made serious inroads in Thaba Chweu and we are expecting to get a few seats,” Maunye went on.

He said as part of their preparations towards the elections, they will officially launch their party manifesto next Wednesday in Casteel.

“We will be officially launching our manifesto through a rally scheduled for next Wednesday April 27 in Casteel to declare our commitment to service delivery and job creation in Bushbuckridge.

“We are the only party that will be launching its manifesto in a village where people have been neglected for the past 21 years.

We are taking this launch directly to the people,” he said.
