TRAC N4 prepares for another busy Easter
In anticipation of this, Trans African Concessions has once again boosted its contingency plans to accommodate the influx of traffic and ensure the N4 highway stays as safe as possible.
The N4 Toll Route traditionally experiences extremely high traffic volumes over the Easter weekend. This is mainly due to the exodus of thousands of holidaymakers and migrant workers who make the long trek from Gauteng to Mpumalanga and Mozambique over this long weekend.
In anticipation of this, Trans African Concessions (TRAC) has once again boosted its contingency plans to accommodate the influx of traffic and ensure the N4 highway stays as safe as possible.
Although this route is busy throughout the Easter holidays, Easter weekend sees the biggest surge in traffic volumes. The road is expected to be the busiest from 12:00 to 22:00 on Thursday, 24 March and again from 12:00 – 22:00 on Monday, 28 March.
In light of this, both these dates will see the annual TRAC N4 Easter Road Safety Campaign held at Alzu Petroport in Middelburg, and at specific spots along the 570 kilometres route.
The activations will see a large contingency of emergency services, the TRAC Helpdesk and TracAssist stationed at this popular rest stop from 10:00 to 22:00 on the 24th and 28th of March. From there, they will be dispatched simultaneously in the event of any incident or accident. The participating emergency services will include private and public ambulance services and paramedics, Fire and Rescue, Provincial Traffic, SAPS, Pathology Units and TRAC Accident Response.

Smaller response units will also be stationed at strategic points on the route – namely Bronkhorstspruit, Milly’s and Mbombela.
The campaign will be in full swing across the border too. In Mozambique emergency services and TracAssist will be stationed at the old weighbridge in Matola on both days.
