Some regions had already been declared disaster areas.

Umjindi Local Municipality was one of municipalities who were struggling to provide clean running water because their rivers and dams were running empty.
This municipality had to resort to supplying water by water use of water tankers.
Some of the areas that were hardest hit include ext 9, Highway View, New Village, and Phase 2.
But this has changed overnight following a heavy rainfall which fell throughout the weekend and had continued even yesterday.

According to the weather forecast services, the rain is likely to continue throughout the week and may even cause flooding in low areas.
This publication interacted with local residents and they indicated that they don’t have to wake up in the morning worrying about water.
“We thank the Almighty God for answering our prayers,” said Ms Sakhile Malambe.
Another resident, Mr Bonga Msitsini said, “We feel relieved. It was not easy to cope without clean running water as our municipality couldn’t also keep up with the provision of water, because there was no water at all. I am happy and hope that everything will be back to normal.”
The effects of water crisis were felt by different institutions including correctional service centres and farmers.
