Mayor urges everyone to get tested for HIV

Shongwe emphasised that local aids councils in all the municipalities that are under the district must focus more on encouraging people to know their status.

MBOMBELA – “We still have a long way to go when it comes to encouraging people to get tested because there are still people that don’t know their status,” these are the words of the district chairperson of the Aids council Cllr Letta Shongwe.
Delivering a keynote address during the 18th District Aids Council that was held yesterday at the Disaster Centre in Ehlanzini district municipality, Shongwe emphasised that local aids councils in all the municipalities that are under the district must focus more on encouraging people to know their status.
This comes after it was discovered that young people are falling pregnant at an early age which shows that they are engaging on unprotected sexual intercourse.
