Community not happy with cancelled Imbizo

“We called this Imbizo to interact with our people about the crime level in this particular area. There are lots of cases of rape, car hijacking, and the target has proven to be bigger cars."

SCHOEMANSDAL – The Department of Security Safety and Liaison was forced to cancel their Imbizo on Saturday, when the community vented their anger and barricaded roads during a protest.

MEC Mr Vusi Shongwe was scheduled to meet with the community to discuss the latest plagues overwhelming the area, but unfortunately he had to postpone it to another day.

“We called this Imbizo to interact with our people about the crime level in this particular area. There are lots of cases of rape, car hijacking, and the target has proven to be bigger cars.

“We came here specifically with the Provincial Commissioner, Gen Mondli Zuma, together with the chairperson of the CPF in the province, to listen to our people. It’s unfortunate that all of that could not happen today,” said Shongwe.

However, the community is not impressed at all with the MEC.
