Nkomazi plagued by dagga cases

The arrest made by the Komatipoort K9 group uncovered dagga weighing 140,85kg with over R400 000 street value.

TONGA – A 25-year-old woman was arrested for dagga possession in KaMhlushwa last week.

The arrest made by the Komatipoort K9 group uncovered dagga weighing 140,85kg with over R400 000 street value. Spokesperson for Tonga SAPS, Lt Mzwandile Nyambi, says this is a cause of concern as such cases seem to be increasing in the area.

“We have been handling a lot of such cases lately; it really is a cause of concern that more people see this as a resort to making a living. Selling or smuggling dagga is a serious crime, which we are busy correcting. This has to come to an end,” said Nyambi.

Residents are urged to work together with the police and to report drug dealers to the police station.

“We commend the police for their tireless work in ensuring that our communities are clean, and we also urge the very same communities to jump on board. This is not a job only for the police, we need to work together to ensure victory,” he concluded.
