Disabled girl’s wish is a pair of legs so she can wear shoes

Even though she is not limiting herself, reality hit when she sustained bruises because of her uncovered knees.

KANYAMAZANE – She may look disabled, but she is just like all her friends at Happy Hours preschool.

Mpumalanga News learned that this outspoken three-year-old girl’s biggest dream is to have legs so that she can wear shoes.

Her grandmother, Mirriam, spoke to Mpumalanga News and said, “We were very moved last year when we bought clothes for Christmas.
“She just burst into tears after we did not buy her a pair of shoes due to her condition. In order to see her smiling again, we were forced to buy the shoes.

“Since that day, she’s always enquires why she doesn’t have legs like her friends.

“We are appealing to the community to assist her to get artificial legs,” said Mirriam.

When this reporter visited the toddler at her preschool, she was amazed to see her playing with her friends without complaining that she was tired or didn’t have legs. She then went on to prove that she could do anything by climbing steps without assistance.

This publication also learnt that the family was told by doctors not to put the child in a wheelchair because she was so active.
They were afraid that a wheelchair would make her too lazy to walk causing permanent paralysis.

Even though she is not limiting herself, reality hit when she sustained bruises because of her uncovered knees.

“She is confident in her ability to do something. Sometimes we use bandages from the local clinic to cover her knees,” she concluded.
