Brace yourself for a Zion weekend

"We felt Zion music is marginalised hence we started these. Our judges are the people themselves as voting is done via SMS."

KANYAMAZANE – This weekend is going to be a historic one when the first annual Mpumalanga Swaziland Zion Music Awards ceremony takes place at the KaNyamazane Community Hall on Saturday from 16:00 to 22:00.

An added value and excitement is that the event will be recorded by Dumisa TV.

A show called Meleletlo (meaning events) which is a Christian entertainment magazine show presented by Tebogo Maunatla will cover the ceremony. The show is flighted every Tuesday and these awards will then be broadcast on the channel next Tuesday at 18:00.

This will be history in the making as it is the first exclusive Zion Gospel Music Awards ever to take place. It is sure to see the convergence of hundreds of Zion churchgoers from all over the province and Swaziland, including other Zion church worshippers from across the country.

There is a lot of excitement in store as nine choirs will perform during the official ceremony, with many more to perform during the all-night vigil that will follow until Sunday morning.

“As we’ve said before, we are making history with these awards. It will be the first time that different classes of Zionist churches under different leaderships will gather under one roof and contest the awards on their own.

“We felt Zion music is marginalised hence we started these. Our judges are the people themselves as voting is done via SMS.

“We’ll only be given the results by the service provider. Mind you, we’ve organised the awards with no sponsor at all. We will showcase our objective which will certainly attract sponsorship next year. With the full-house already hoisted for the event, potential sponsors will be able to gauge their opportunities for next year,” said founder and organiser, Ncobile Nyarenda.

If you can’t make it to the ceremony, catch up with Mzansi Magic’s Dumisa gospel music channel that will flight proceedings next Tuesday at 18:00.
