Car hijacking is increasing

Mpumalanga News learnt that such incidents are also on the increase in Barberton as criminals are targeting cars at the Badplaas road intersection.

PIENAAR – Police have warned that motorists must be vigilant at night as incidents of car hijacking is increasing in this area and surroundings.
Speaking to this publication, the spokesperson of local police Lt Jabu Ndubane said:

“Car hijacking are on the increase and we have discovered that criminals are targeting cars stop signs and when approaching speed humps.
“Sometimes they park their car in the middle of the road when a drive approaches them, they take the car,“ she said.
Ndubane said a few days ago, three vehicles including a truck, were hijacked in a similar fashion, but says the police at this stage managed to recover one vehicle, but no arrest has been made yet.
