MLM implements water restrictions

Mbombela Municipality has implemented restrictions as the Crocodile River has stopped flowing further downstream.

MBOMBELA – The local municipality has pleaded with all residents to use water sparingly considering the lack of rainfall.

According to the municipality, restrictions are being implemented as the Crocodile River has stopped flowing further downstream.

These restrictions will apply to all municipal abstractions from the Crocodile River such as Mbombela, White River, KaNyamazane, Malalane and Komatipoort.

The municipality appeals to users to cease

• irrigation of gardens (residential and business)?

• washing cars with a hosepipe (use bucket)

• cleaning pavements with a hosepipe (use broom)

All leaks must be reported to the call centre on 0861-68-6623 or to the concession area call centre on 0861-74-5858.

The reason for these restrictions is to enable the flow in the Crocodile River to reach the Mozambican border as it has currently stopped flowing.

This is required to meet the domestic needs downstream, our international obligations and the environmental sustainability of the Crocodile River.
