Wait almost over for matrics

On Wednesday they will receive their results, which will effectively pave the way for their academic and career choices.

They did what they could to prepare for their last school exam. And now the wait is almost over for the over 800 000 Grade 12 pupils who sat for the 2015 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.

On Wednesday they will receive their results, which will effectively pave the way for their academic and career choices.

And tonight, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will lead the way as she announces how the class of 2015 fared. The event will take place in Midrand, Johannesburg.

The results will be published in newspapers and pupils have been advised to fetch their statements from their schools from Wednesday morning.

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) said the 2015 NSC examinations were the largest so far, with 801 688 examination candidates sitting to write the exams.

During the Minister’s announcement, the nation will have an insight into how well the class of 2015 faired while the minister will also recognise top achievers in an award ceremony.

The 20 top achievers from various provinces will join the Minister this evening as she makes the announcement.

The department said an in-depth technical briefing into the results will also be given, allowing for a greater understanding of the processes involved in administering the NSC examinations, marking and scoring.-SAnews.gov.za
