United ready to end on high note

This will be United's last league game of the year, which has been nothing but outstanding. This clash is scheduled at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban at 15:00.

Mbombela United will be looking to close the year by giving their supporters a perfect Christmas present by collecting maximum points when they take on AmaZulu on Saturday.

This will be United’s last league game of the year, which has been nothing but outstanding. This clash is scheduled at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban at 15:00.

Tingwenyama are currently comfortably occupying the fourth spot on the NFD table with 21 points. Their opponents, AmaZulu are on position six with 19 points.

“Even though AmaZulu are behind us on points, but we know they are playing very well and therefore, we are not going to undermine them.
“We are going there to play our normal game and fight for all three points,” said United’s spokesperson, Sostern Gutsa.

He said he was worried though about the two-week break during which his team would not be playing any official games.

“Such has a great negative impact on the players’ fitness. But I hope this will not disadvantage us, since the team has been hard at training for the entire time official football was in recess,” he went on.

The home team has been on fire this year. They have so far managed to go to Limpopo and Cape Town and came back with points in the bag. They have also been unforgiving when playing at home at the Kanyamazane Stadium.
A number of teams experienced Tingwenyama wrath at this stadium. “Our plan is to hunt down and kill whatever comes to our slaughter house and at least settle for a point when playing away. So far, I believe we are on the right path and I hope next year will be as rewarding as this one has been,” said Gutsa.

A win for Mbombela United on Saturday could see them finish the year in position two with 24 points.
But it will also come down to the results from the Witbank Spurs game. Spurs are currently in position two with 23 points. They will travel to Cape Town to face Milano FC. Cape Town All Stars, who are third on the table also with 23 points, are playing Vasco da Gama and a loss for them will enable the home team to overtake them.
