Msholozi residents to select CPF members

A lot of criminal activities were happening in broad daylight, mainly because there was no functional structure which assisted the police in the fight against crime.

MSHOLOZI – The community’s misunderstanding of who the legitimate members of the community’s policing forum (CPF) are, will be clarified during a CPF election meeting on Saturday (December 5) .

Const Cynthia Mbokodo of White River Police Station stated it clearly that Msholozi Village currently had no CPF structure, following the resignation of the former chairperson last year.

“A CPF was elected last year, but due to a number of challenges, the chairperson resigned and no other committee was formed after that. We know that there might be people misusing the name of the forum, which is wrong and must be stopped. We hence invite the community to come to select this structure,” she said.

She added that a lot of criminal activities were happening in broad daylight, mainly because there was no functional structure which assisted the police in the fight against crime.

Mbokodo said that electing a CPF is aimed at achieving more effective crime control, reducing fears of crime and improving quality of life. “It allows the police and community to work closely together to solve problems of crime, fear of crime, physical and social disorder and neighbourhood decay. In short community policing is a partnership between the police and the community to solve safety problems,” she said.

The venue is yet to be confirmed.
