Radio stations raise awareness against abuse

Radio staions in the Lowveld have joined hands with the rest of the country in commemorating the 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Children Abuse.

Ligwalagwala FM presenters too to the streets in Mbombela for their ‘Hoot Against Women and Children Abuse’ campaign.

The presenters had motorists on standstill when they went all out to hoot in support of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Baberton Community Radio (BCR) also embarked on a campaign to raise the awareness with the listeners and followers on social media.

“We have chosen two of our presenters, Nothando Moelakgomo and Nontobeko Khoza, as our ambassador for the campaign to raise awareness within young people who are in abusive relationships. Our focus is addressing the abuse pandemic amongst young couples where it seems to be very dominant.

Our hashtag is very simple, #Ungamshayi, we will also push the same message during our birthday bash at Umjindini staduim on the December 5,” said Mawethu Ngwenya, Programs Manager at BCR.
