Messages of support flow in for premier

“The foundation takes this opportunity to welcome Mabuza back. We extend our gratitude to all the loyal people of Mpumalanga and South Africa for their prayers and well-wishes."

MBOMBELA – The Speaker of the provincial legislature, Ms Thandi Shongwe and the ANC chief whip, Mr Musa Johan Mkhatshwa have welcomed the premier, Mr David Mabuza back to work, saying his return signals his commitment to serve the people.

“I wish to appreciate and thank our Lord for the recovery and the return of the premier to work. I wish him strength and courage in performing his duties as tasked by the people of the province.

Citizens missed him while on sick leave and they have been anxious for his return. We also thank the religious fraternity for their prayers,” said Shongwe.

“His return will strengthen the provincial government and fast-track service delivery.

The people of the province still need him as he has done so many things to better their lives. This he has done through, among others his Kancane Kancane Legacy Project and the DD Mabuza Foundation,” Shongwe concluded.

Mkhatshwa said the morale of the people had waned because they believed all the false stories they heard in the corridors.

“We are happy that he is back to continue shining the light for all of us.

We would like to thank all those who have been praying for him. Looking at all the people that had come to welcome him back proves just how much we need his expertise and how much ordinary citizens and members of the ANC adore him.

“We hope and continue to pray that he will continue his journey with the respect, humility and dignity he has portrayed over the years. He is indeed a humble servant of the people.

“We would also like to thank the acting premier, Mr Vusi Shongwe for the work done while the premier was on sick leave. He served the province and its people well,” said Mkhatshwa.

“A new provincial youth wing, the Progressive Youth Leaders’ Foundation led by its president Mr Justice Nyalunga said,

“The foundation takes this opportunity to welcome Mabuza back. We extend our gratitude to all the loyal people of Mpumalanga and South Africa for their prayers and well-wishes.

“The foundation is aware of the negative coverage from some of the media houses regarding Mabuza and we have, right from the start, condemned those who disseminated dismissive information that sought to discredit his dignity and humanity to the people of Mpumalanga.

Our message is that we should strive to create a space harmony and promote the spirit of Ubuntu in our communities.

The foundation urges church institutions to pray for our people to have sympathy and compassion.

“We therefore call everyone whether you are a member of the ruling party or not, to support premier Mabuza and welcome him back in office.

We also call Mabuza to continue working on his mandate which is to serve the people of the province. As a premier he has a responsibility to lead Mpumalanga and continue to change people’s lives.”
