Search for the new queen starts soon

The search for the new Miss Mpumalanga 2016 will start during the first week of December at three different venues.

MBOMBELA – The search for the new Miss Mpumalanga 2016 will start during the first week of December at three different venues.

Auditions will be held at the Gert Sibande District Municipality offices in Ermelo on December 9, then proceed to the Highveld Protea Hotel, Emalahleni on December 10 and eventually at the Southern Sun Emnotweni  in Mbombela on December 11.

The competition is open to girls from 18 to 24 years old who are bona-fide citizens of Mpumalanga.

According to the CEO of Mzimari Productions, Ms Gugu Nyarenda, “The reason we’re holding these auditions during the first week of December is to enable tertiary students to attend.

That’s the time schools and tertiary institutions have their Christmas break. This pageant is open to all eligible young women.

“I must warn contestants though, that this year’s judging panel will be stricter on the knowledge about the province in particular and nationally, too.

Questions will range from socio-economic issues, to political and general matters.

They must come we’ll prepared and never think they are being disadvantaged at the auditions because of the tough questions they have to answer.

“The judging panel at times identifies a queen during auditions.

Therefore, I’m warning the girls to prepare well, because when you are selected there, you are automatically in the top 30, then the top 12 and the crowning event around March or April.

I’m looking forward to crowning my sixth queen and highly commend current queen, Zamanene Nene for a job well done until she hands over the crown at the crowning event,” she concluded.
