Operation fiela nabs 14 illegal immigrants

Five other suspects were nabbed for violating the law governing the employment of foreigners, failing to comply with the Municipality Act 19 of 1999, possession of house breaking instruments and possession of a firearm.

MBOMBELA- A total of 14 illegal immigrants were arrested from White River during a recently held operation fiela which is aimed to eradicate the scourge of crime.

According to Brig Selvy Mohlala police spokesperson the immigrants were further handed to the department of Home Affairs for further handling. “Six people were arrested for public drinking and four for possession of drugs,” he adds.
“Five other suspects were nabbed for violating the law governing the employment of foreigners, failing to comply with the Municipality Act 19 of 1999, possession of house breaking instruments and possession of a firearm,” continued.

The operation also the arrest of 11 people for the violation of Road Traffic Act and were issued with fines. .

“The management is pleased with the success and requested the public to continue cooperating with the police,” he adds.
