ELUKWATINI – What was supposed to be a happy birthday celebration ended sorrowfully over the weekend at Elukwatini when the host, who is police constable, was apparently shot dead in his house while his colleagues and friends were partying in the yard.
According to a close source, the officer, Const Henry Patrick Mthembu who was attached to the SAPS detective services, had an argument with his wife inside the house while guests were outside. However, when the sound of gunfire was heard friends rushed inside and they found Mthembu profusely bleeding from his head and his service pistol on his bed.
“The matter is still under investigation and no arrest has been made so far,” explained Const Peace Mbokane the local spokesperson. The station commander col Precious Mabuza also expressed her condolences to deceased family. “He was a very dedicated and disciplined member and I was still expecting a lot from him. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,”she said.
