Designers to do battle to dress M’langa beauty

It's down to business once more for Mzimari Productions. This time around, it's not about beauty queens, but fashion designers who have to pit their creative genius against the rest, and eventually win the honour of dressing up Miss Mpumalanga during her reign.

MBOMBELA – The exciting news came out of the bag of Mzimari’s CEO, Gugu Nyarenda who immediately revealed that the much-awaited auditions will definitely take place at the Nelspruit Hotel on October 16 from 10.00 to 17.00.

It has been dubbed the Mpumalanga Designers Development Programme.

“This is a call to all the creative minds in the province to prove their worth in the world of fashion designing and pit their strength against the best in the province. Most importantly, each designer must bring their own model to the auditions.

These models will showcase their designs before a judging panel comprising national and provincial fashion designers whom I’ll reveal at a later stage.

“Six finalists will be chosen by the judges. They will go on a five-day camp like the Miss Mpumalanga finalists under the mentorship of a renowned national designer who will overlook their work as they need to design two garments – an own original choice, plus a show-stopper.

“As can be deduced from the above, this will be practical training for the designers.

Mind you, the final event will be attended by a specially selected audience at an exclusive venue in November,” she said. For more information call Mzimari Productions on 013-752-3384.
