Celebrating World Heart Day

World Heart Day takes place on September 29 every year aim to give an opportunity to people across the globe to take part in the world's biggest intervention against cardiovascular disease (CVD).

It also aim on creating healthy heart environments in ensuring that everyone has the chance to make healthy heart choices wherever they live, work and play, World Heart Day encourages us all to reduce our cardiovascular risk, and promotes a heart-healthy planet for those around us.

According to World Heart Federation, the cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one killer of women, with more than 8.6 million lives taken every year. Despite progresses in the past years, women are still discriminated against when it comes to the management and treatment of CVD.

The unhealthy lifestyles that lead to cardiovascular disease often begin in childhood and adolescence, so that prevention of heart disease must begin there.

The World Heart Federation works to prevent tobacco use and promote healthy diets and physical activity among children and youth.
