EFF adamant to fight corruption

The party appealed the decision of the court. The National Director of Public Prosecution had now referred the case to the Gauteng High Court with the date to be communicated soon.

MBOMBELA – The provincial chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the province, Mr Collen Sedibe vowed that his party would not rest until it won the battle of a case of fraud and corruption against Mbombela Local Municipality.

It was reported that on Thursday and Friday morning the Hawks raided all the strategic offices and took all the files and documents that contained serious information about the recruitment process and the bid-adjudication process.

The raid came after EFF reported the matter to the police station which led to the arrest of the municipal manager, Mr Noko Seanago, who was released on R5 000 bail.
Mpumalanga News learnt that during the second appearance of Seanago, the case was struck off the roll by the Nelspruit Regional Court.

The party appealed the decision of the court. The National Director of Public Prosecution had now referred the case to the Gauteng High Court with the date to be communicated soon.
Speaking to this publication, Sedibe said, “The reason why we decided that the case must go to the Gauteng High Court is because we have realised that there is favouritism that is going on at the Nelspruit Regional Court.”

He added that since they had realised that corruption and fraud were getting out of control in some municipalities, the EFF was going to launch an official campaign to do away with corruption.

“We can’t run away from reality, as much as we believe that the EFF is the hope of the hopeless, we are going to do our best to uproot corruption.
”In some municipalities there are people who get hired in high positions just because they are active members of the ANC and those people don’t even have qualifications that are required in those positions that they occupied and it affects service delivery,” added Sedibe.

Meanwhile, in Mpumalanga News’ sister publication, Lowvelder, the spokesperson of Mbombela, Mr Joseph Ngala was quoted saying, “There were no documents that have been seized from the municipal offices. There was nothing mentioned on the awarding of tenders in their investigation.”
