MBOMBELA – A former taxi boss from KaNyamazane was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape, 15 years for attempted murder and three years for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm last Friday.

It’s reported that his name will be registered on the National Register of Sexual Offenders.

He was found guilty of these offences which he had committed in 2001 and 2012.

He started giving his family sleepless nights in 2001 when he turned his 22-year-old biological daughter into his sex slave.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the daughter reached a point where she couldn’t deal with the abuse anymore and reported the matter to the police who arrested her father.

During the trial it was revealed that he impregnated his daughter twice and forced her to have abortions.

Meanwhile his wife also became a victim after witnessing some of these incidents. He did not show any remorse for his wrong deeds and even threatened to cut his wife’s eyes out with a fork, and assaulted her in the process.

Handling the trial was not an easy journey as the accused did all he could to delay the it.

It’s reported that he faked illnesses during his court appearance, came to court in a wheelchair and demanded bail.

He also went on a hunger strike in an effort to disrupt the trial.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the magistrate, Ms Vanessa Joubert, before passing judgement, emphasised that he didn’t show any remorse as he insisted that he was in love with his daughter and continued to commit the crime even though he knew that what he was doing, was wrong.
