Police officials cut down on crime in KaNyamazane

Police officials have cleared KaNyamazane bushes in a bid of fighting crime in the area.

KANYAMAZANE – After noticing the alarming rate of crime in the area, local SAPS officials with members of community policing forums (CPFs) embarked on a cleaning campaign by cutting trees and grass in areas used as criminal hiding zones, as most rape and robbery cases took place in these areas.

WO Andries Skwambane, the station’s spokesperson, said the community is sick and tired of robbery and all criminal activities that take place in broad daylight or at night near those areas.

“The police decided to join hands with our CPF members to fight against crime by cleaning the area and we are proud that we worked as a team to make this possible.”

Community members also showed their delight and appreciation to these officials as they believe that by cleaning the bush, crime will be reduced. Locals said with the police’s tireless efforts, crime is being controlled in the community.

One of the residents, Mr Owethu Nkosi said, “The crime rate is high in the area, we didn’t feel safe, but we are positive that crime will decrease since officials have made a mark by cleaning up our area.
“We wish that all police branches could serve the community like the KaNyamazane one. All the officers are concerned about the safety of residents as they want our community to be safe and secure.”
