Ndlozi’s apology slammed

Ndlozi took to social media to apologise for saying TUT students were fat.

MBOMBELA – EFF national spokesperson, Mr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, made headlines last week for calling the girls at TUT’s Mbombela campus fat and out of shape.

Ndlozi has since apologised and withdrawn his comments on social media.

“I profusely and unconditionally take back the comments that I made about female bodies.

Although they were levelled on a lighter note, they are, however, unfortunate and regrettable,” he wrote on Facebook and Twitter.

His comments were made during his EFF campaign at TUT, in the wake of the SRC elections which were held last week.

Remarks have also poured in on social media slamming his apology.

“I think this is not an unconditional apology. An unconditional apology should never contain the words ‘although’.

“What you ought to have done is to explain to your followers why you are apologising because some of them do not seem to understand why what you said was wrong.

“In that way some good would come from this unfortunate gross display of patriarchy and misogyny.

Personally I have lost all respect for you. I expected better of you,” read one Facebook comment.

“You are doing a right thing by apologising, Ndlozi. But you should have omitted the line ‘although these were levelled on a lighter note’ whether it was on a lighter note or not, it was a slur, period!”
