Police extended a kind hand to helpless

KaNyamazane police officials celebrated Women's month by fixing the roof and windows of a needy family.

KANYAMAZANE – August is a month specially dedicated to celebrate courageous women across the country. KaNyamazane police officials and the CPF team celebrated them by getting their hands dirty as they helped a needy family in the area.

After noticing the unpleasant conditions of a house where an 83-year-old Rita Shabangu is looking after three children, depending only on a pension grant, the KaNyamazane SAPS decided to jump in and help out.

According to them the family slept in that house without a roof and windows, and the floor too was not properly built. These officials donated money from their own pockets and bought building materials and food parcels and physically renovated the house.

“Since it’s Women’s Month, we have decided to help this destitute family. We wanted to show the community that we do not only arrest and prevent crime but also investigate and help needy families around the community. We will not stop here, but will continue making a difference in the community,” said the spokesperson for the KaNyamazane SAPS, WO Andries Skhwambane.

He further appealed for assistance from local businesses to help so that they could do more in helping needy families. “As women let us help other people since the Lord gave us strength to be wise and to make things work,” said the personnel officer, Cyntia Khoza.

“God is great, I really appreciate what they have done. I could not have done it on my own since I am not working and only depend on a pension grant. Today I will sleep peacefully knowing that my grandchildren have a better and warm shelter,” Rita concluded.
