Empowering people living with disabilities

Komatiland Forestry with its stakeholders is targeting to employ 35 people living with disabilities, the company held a week long Capacity Building Workshop aimed to empower, educate and give available opportunities to people with disabilities.

MBOMBELA-Mr Bonginkosi Mlombo the chairperson of Ama Wheelies is home and rehabilitation centre for people with disability especially those with spinal cord injuries due to traumatic accidents, said the province is blessed to have organizations that have the aims and objectives of disabled people at heart.

“I believe in meaningful investments and empowerment of people living with disabilities, we need to be capacitated, this kind of workshops help us, as we from different disadvantage areas”, said Mlombo.

He continue saying he was also trained to empower people and now he is trying to implement the knowledge to back.

“This kind of training workshop will build and transform the mindset for the future knowing that disability is an ability to do something. In South African policies, disability is recognized; we need to be well informed and fit our self to available opportunities.

“We need to advance our lives and the only way to do that is through knowledge and education”, he said.

Caesar Molebatsi and Abner Mariri explained the seminar is all about changing the mindset and the lives of disable people and creating opportunities making sure no one is left behind.

They added that they understands the need of empowering people living with disabilities.
