KANYAMAZANE – Living with a disability does not prevent a person from aiming high and reaching your goals in life. This has been proven by Nkosinathi Ndlovu , the deputy chairperson of Ehlanzeni District Municipality Disability Council.

Ndlovu officially launched his foundation recently at the local stadium called “Nkosinathi Ndlovu Foundation “ under the slogan: Our legacy is your future.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the foundation was aimed at assisting people living with disabilities and women from disadvantaged communities, including orphans who struggle to make their dreams a reality.

”I believe that the establishment of the foundation will be an eye-opener to many young people in the province, including those who are deaf, and we are not only focusing on them as we will even be reaching out to women in deep rural areas.

It will encourage them to aim high, not limiting themselves because of their disabilities and also do away with the mentality of being side-lined. I am also deaf, but it does not limit me, “ said Ndlovu.
He said he was currently engaging with different institutions to discuss fund-raising issues.

Ndlovu alluded that even though the foundation had been launched, they still had a long way to go when it came to addressing challenges faced by deaf people.

“At this stage I can say that slowly but surely we are moving in a positive direction in terms of solving problems faced by deaf people in society which includes a school for deaf people in the province.

They also have dreams that they want to achieve, but as we all know that without education you won’t go anywhere,“ he added.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the event was also graced by deaf people from different provinces. Getting opportunities in the business industry and access to better education are some of the things that are expected to be achieved by the foundation.

Ndlovu is determined to leave a mark wherever he goes as this publication also learnt that in 2013 he put this province on the map after he walked away with an award in the National Walter Sisulu Awards held at Southern Sun ( OR Tambo hotel) in Johannesburg.
