Taxis cause chaos in town

" The traffic officers from Mbombela Local Municipality are turning a blind eye on this matter "

MBOMBELA – Motorists are fed up of the taxi drivers who are causing chaos by parking their taxis in drop-off areas near Nelspruit Plaza.

”Taxi drivers are doing as they please, they open taxi ranks wherever they want. Early this year, they used to park their taxis near Nissan Garage and now they park at 60-minutes parking zones, but they park there for more than that as if it’s their taxi rank,“ said one of the motorists, Mr Banele Bhiya.

He indicated that most motorists are forced to make U-turns in the middle of the road.

“We are forced now to make U-turns in the middle of the road because we don’t have a space to wait for on-coming traffic so that we can turn, but we can’t do that because now it’s been used as a taxi rank and the traffic officers from Mbombela Local Municipality are turning a blind eye on this matter. They don’t bother even to issue them ticket fines,” alluded Bhiya.

Another motorist, Ms Zanele Dlala had this to say:

“I think it’s about time for traffic officers to take this matter very seriously and remove the taxis. Sometimes you struggle to find parking if you want to fetch or dropped off someone. They must go inside the taxi rank.”

Mpumalanga News tried to contact the spokesperson of MLM, Mr Joseph Ngala, but our efforts didn’t yield positive results since his cell-phone was off.
