Residents ask only for potable water

Local residents in Ward 32 have accused the Mbombela Local Municipality of supplying them with dirty water.

KABOKWENI -Community members told Mpumalanga News that they received muddy and dirty water from a municipal water tanker. They claimed to have reported the problem to their ward councillor, but to no avail.

They also alleged that as a result of the dirty water, some people in the area were suffering from diarrhoea.

“The water is so bad we can’t even boil it because even after boiling you will find dead insects floating in there. We appreciate the fact
that our municipality is providing the services of water tankers to ease the backlog, but we feel that the drivers simply draw water straight from nearby streams and deliver it untreated,” said
one community member.

The residents said they did not want to cause a scene by taking to the streets, but all they needed was just to be supplied with clean water.

The paper tried several times to contact the spokesperson for Mbombela Local Municipality, Mr Joseph Ngala, but he was not available.
