Riders FC lift the trophy
The new champions of the annual Together Funerals soccer tournament, Riders FC, have applauded the sponsors for creating such a platform for teams participating in the amateur ranks.
Kabokweni-Riders FC were crowned new champs on Sunday after defeating FC Musa on penalties by 4-3.
The two had played to a three-all draw in regulation time. “We would like to thank the sponsors, Together Funeral Services for this
opportunity to showcase our football talent. We need such tournaments because they keep us busy and away from the streets.
Director of Together Funerals, James Matsebula said he was very impressed with the manner in which the tournament was staged. “This tournament is growing by the day and we have since witnessed a number of players coming up the ranks. As sponsors, we believe that we are reaching our objective of fighting crime, drugs and substance abuse among the young people’, said Matsebula.
Matsebula has also helped put a smile on the faces of local learners following his generous gesture to hand out school uniforms in honour of the struggle icon, Nelson Mandela.
