Mill spoils town’s senior citizens

In celebrating the special day of the struggle icon, Nelson Mandela, the Blinkwater Mills pampered elders at Siyaphila Old-age Centre in the area by donating food parcels.

MSOGWABA-Desmond Mashele of Blinkwater Mills, said after visiting the centre, he realised that doing something for the elderly would make
a huge difference in their lives.

Since he was raised by his grandmother he noticed the remarkable impact she had on his life.

“Looking at what my grandmother did for me, I want to honour Madiba by spending time with elders and I really appreciate that my manager agreed to this idea. I am really honoured,” he said.

The elderly were captivated by various youth performances and also given a chance to perform the Saraffina dance. This showed that they
kept in shape at the centre. This paper also observed that they were well taken care of since they still looked strong and could do so many things by themselves.

“I am so happy that Blinkwater Mills visited us, I feel so special. I will not buy groceries for this month because I already have everything from Blinkwater Mills,” said Gogo Martha Ndlovu.

The elderly said they were given food every day, hence they wished that businesses and the government would provide them with breakfast.
