MBOMBELA – Two police officers from Pienaar police station are expected to appear in court today in connection with aiding a prisoner to escape from lawful custody.
It is alleged that W/O Petros Mashaba (53) and Sgnt Amos Mathebula (55) helped a notorious suspect arrested for armed robbery and possession of suspected stolen property to escape.
This comes after the suspect was detained him at Pienaar Police Station and hours later it was discovered that the suspect had escape from lawful custody and investigations led to the arrest of the two officials.
The two officials appeared in the KaNyamazane Magistrate’s Court on June 4 and were granted free bail. They will appear again on July 10.
