Two arrested for possessing illegal firearms

According to Tonga SAPS, a complaint was received with regards to two suspicious men roaming around the community, by a local resident.

KAMHLUSHWA – Two suspects were arrested for illegal possession of firearm (ammunition) in Kamhlushwa yesterday.

According to Tonga SAPS, a complaint was received with regards to two suspicious men roaming around the community, by a local resident.

“We then rushed to the place immediately, she explained that the two suspects came to her apartment seeking for information, and they were driving a navy blue Mazda. We began patrolling around the place, found the car, and started our search.

The suspects were found in possession of firearms (9 mm pistol X2 and 18 ammunition) for which they failed to produce the licenses. We arrested them on the spot,” said Lt. Mzwandile Nyambi, of Tonga SAPS.

The police are still investigating other criminal activities which might have been committed in connection with the firearms.

“The suspects will appear at the Nkomazi Magistrate Court soon. We appeal to all community members to report suspicious activities that might be in line with crime by contacting crime stop at 08600 10111. Together we can squeeze crime to zero,” he concluded.
