MBOMBELA- Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe sends condolences to the family of Surprise Mazibila, a Sowetan journalist who was based in the province.

Mazibila died on Friday, June 26 in hospital after he was involved in a car accident on June 24 between Mbombela and Tekwane South. At the time of the accident, he was alone in the car.

“As a department, we join the Sowetan and the whole media fraternity to mourn for the loss of the young life especially in a road crash.

The department deeply applauded the human angle that Mazibila always chose when he wrote stories about the community. He always ensured that his stories revolved around the well being of communities. We will solely miss him for that.

It is against this backdrop that we reiterate the call to the whole society including the media to play their role in eradicating road crashes by promoting road safety awareness,” Shongwe concluded.

May his soul rest in peace.
