Aborted foetus found in box

According to eyewitnesses, they noted trails of blood from the woman's room leading to where the foetus was found

MBOMBELA – A foetus allegedly aborted by a sex worker, was recently found in a box in Anderson Street. It was discovered by municipal waste collectors.

Mpumalanga News interviewed her friends who also do business in this notorious street. They said they were puzzled to see her bleeding heavily and when questioned about it, she apparently said it was her menstrual cycle.

“When we saw people gathering outside and the foetus lying on the ground, we realized what our friend had done. We tried to call her on her cellphone, but it rang unanswered.
“When we checked her room, she was not available either, and her belongings were no longer there,” they said.

According to eyewitnesses, they noted trails of blood from the woman’s room leading to where the foetus was found.

One shop owner, Mr Abdul Ibrahim, said he was shocked to witness such an incident. “I can’t accept that she could just throw the baby away like this.

“The police must do their work to investigate and arrest her for this barbaric act.
“How can she kill an innocent soul and throw it away while there are so many couples who can’t have children?

“I feel we’ve lost our African culture, ubuntu and our African pride. I won’t forgive this woman even though I don’t know her,” said Ibrahim.

Nelpruit police spokesperson, Capt Dawie Pretorius said a criminal case had been opened and investigations are continuing.

He urged anyone with information that could lead to the woman’s arrest to contact the Nelspruit Police Station on 013-759-1404 or 10111.
