“HEALTH CARE IMPLEMENTED”

The Department of Health in partnership with local Nkangala district municipality and Samancor Chrome Limited officially opened a state of the art clinic, Thomas Mahlanguville Clinic recently.

EMALAHLENI-The name Mahlanguville was coined after the Mahlangu clan who used to occupy the land years ago.

Initially the clinic was called Akhaville, it used to operate from an old four-room house since 1987, with no emergency room, dispensary, and other facilities for people living with disabilities, nor a dental room.

Indeed there was a dire need for a modified and standardized clinic in the area. However all this is now history as the MEC for the Department of Health in the province Gillion Mashego, officially opened the R6,5 million newly built clinic sponsered by Samancor Chrome. “Today we are celebrating a million rand structure, and the community will get services such as cervical cancer’s clinic, HIV/AIDS, TB counseling and testing, youth friendly services, management of chronic conditions and child development issues here,”he said. “The will be very little chances to refer patience to other hospitals because this Clinic will provide services that the community needs”, he added.

According to Mashego the president aim to improve service delivery in communities, hence the launch of the ideal Clinic Initiative. Mr Jurgen Schalamon, CEO of Samancor urged the staff to take care of the clinic, its equipment and take ownership of the Clinic as a whole. “We want to collaborate further in the future ,so please keep this structure in a good shape and maintain it. As our work mostly has to do with pollution, we do our best to control air and water pollution;considering that we do not own the world, but the people have basics needs to live in a healthy environment, receiving good water, food and education. It was figured out that building this health facility will make a different to our community, we are doing this for our communities and to save life.”

Speakers said this clinic marks a celebration of a big project that demonstrates unity, for the people of Emalahleni, which will provide free medical care and hospitalization with special care for mothers, children.
