MBOMBELA – The SPAR competition has been won, and the mood was nothing short of jovial during the giveaway at SPAR Plaza on Thursday May 28.
Ms Losta Maseko of Mahushu said she could not believe her eyes when she came across the SPAR sticker inside her copy of Mpumalanga News, and went to the store right away to claim her prize.
“I heard the announcement about the competition, and I bought the paper. When I got to work, I was just reading, not expecting to find it. To my surprise, there it was, the sticker, saying I had won
R10 000 worth of groceries.
This is humbling, I’m just so happy about it.” When she got to the store Losta said she was only expecting a normal handover of the voucher, little did she know that SPAR had something else planned for her.
“I came here just for the collection, and I was shocked yet again, that there was a DJ at the door, and all eyes were on me. I even had to do a little bit of dancing, just to show my excitement.
I’m grateful to the store and to Mpumalanga News. I was a casual reader of the paper, but from today, they have one loyal reader, I will even get those around me to buy and read through every edition.”
As if winning the voucher on its own was not enough, Losta was told she could cash in half of the money, should she wish to do so.
“She can take half the voucher as cash, and the rest can be used for her groceries. It doesn’t have to be at once, she can spend it however and whenever she wishes. This is SPAR’s way of ensuring that we keep the relationship with our customers as intimate as possible,” said Mr Sean Olive, store manager.
This was not the only competition run by the store, as it will also give away a brand-new Hyundai i10 to one lucky shopper in August.
“All they have to do is shop, and drop off the receipt at the box by the door. The winner will be chosen in a lucky draw, we are happy to give back to our number-one clients, that being our customers.
The lucky draw will take place on August 1, and I encourage people to drop in as many receipts as possible, to stand a better chance of winning the car,” he added.
