Pienaar Police Station recently hosted a motivational 'Take a girl child to work' campaign. Learners from local schools were given the feel to the workplace environment.

PIENAAR-The local police recently hosted a “Cell C Take a girl child to work campaign” to contribute towards building the future generation and expose young girl children to the work environment.

Speaking on behalf on the station , Lt Jabu Ndubani said the campaign takes place annually on May 31. “The campaign targets Grade 9 to 12 girls with the aim of exposing them to the world of work and the wide range of career opportunities
available to them within the Public Service Sectors and business world, as well
as giving them the opportunity to meet career role model”, she said.Tsepiso Modipane of Ncakini Secondary School says the campaign is an eye opener to all the available opportunities in the policing sector, which they were not aware of before. “This will help us get an insight of the police sector, I’m motivated in studying towards becoming a Forensic Detective in
future”, she said.

The campaign prompts dialogue around the needs of girl learners, their role in socio-economic development, the promotion
of gender equality and empowerment of woman. According to Ndubane the company s found its most ardent support from the office of the Presidency. The project has also been endorsed by the Department of Education, over 650 00 girl learners have been exposed to a multitude businesses and various career and job opportunities.
