Rape accused appears for bail application

ACORNHOEK – Two suspects aged 43 and 40 years will appeare before the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court, on charges of rape today.
Their appearance follows police swiftly responds to two separate incidents that occurred at various places in Acornhoek.
In the first incident, it is alleged that on May 16 at about 01:00, a 43-year-old man went into the bedroom of his 73-year-old mother while she was asleep, broke the door with an axe, threatened to kill her and raped her.
The mother reported the incident to her daughter who in turn notified the police hence the arrest.
In the second case the 40-year-old man of Matsikitsane Trust allegedly raped an 11-year-old who is a grand daughter to his girlfriend. The girl apparently told her grandmother that she felt unbearable pains in her back and it later transpired that she was allegedly raped by the granny’s boyfriend who also threatened to kill her should she tell anyone.
“Police were notified and the case was registered for investigation. During the investigation, police uncovered that it was not for the first time the suspect raped the victim,”said Brig Selvy Mohlala.
Both suspects will appear for their formal bail application on June 2.
