MBOMBELA – The Mpumalanga province is still shocked after 19 taxis were burnt to ashes in Mhluzi Township near Middelburg on May 15.
According to police information the taxis were parked at two different ranks, Avalon and Extension 5 where they were looted.
“Eight of the taxis were burnt in Extension 5 and the rest in Avalon with a combined value of approximately R11 million,”explained Brig Selvy Mohlala provincial police spokesperson.
“Up to so far it is not known who the suspects behind this senseless act are and we ask the public to help with information which may lead to the arrest of those involved,” said the provincial commissioner Lt Gen Michael Magadlela.
