Motorist shoots man who stabs another to death

According to police spokesperson Lt Jabu Ndubane, a fight apparently broke out between two men. One stabbed the other with a knife.

PIENAAR – A man was recently stabbed to death, his attacker shot to death and a motorist apprehended for the attacker’s murder.
This gruesome scene of both men lying dead in pools of blood happened right in the middle of the road about two kilometres from the local police station.

According to police spokesperson Lt Jabu Ndubane, a fight apparently broke out between two men. One stabbed the other with a knife.
She said at that moment a 45-year-old passing motorist tried to stop the man from stabbing the victim who was already on the road and bleeding profusely.

“The man then threatened to stab the motorist. They exchanged words and the driver fired two warning shots into the air. The attacker, however, did not back off. The motorist shot him and he died on the scene,” explained Ndubane.

“Both men were declared dead on the scene and the driver handed himself over to the police and was arrested,” she said.
“Whether the motorist will be charged awaits a decision by the National Prosecuting Authority,” she said.

On Monday Ndubane also called on members of the community to help find relatives of the two deceased as they had still not been identified.

“We are still looking for their relatives. One was dressed in jeans, black tekkies and a black top while the other wore a red golf shirt, takkies and jeans.”
