Fashionista brings style to Lowveld

Fashion is one thing, style is another. It is often said that one's appearance speaks even before you utter a word. Mbombela seems to be rising to keep up in style and a bit of fashion here and there.

Fashion is one thing, style is another. It is often said that one’s appearance speaks even before you utter a word. Mbombela seems to be rising to keep up in style and a bit of fashion here and there.

Martin Nkosi is one of the trendy men in the city who are pioneering the growth of fashion and style in its essence.

“I am motivated by so many things, and as much as I love fashion, I believe style is key to every man, and everyone out there. Growing up, I would look at the postman wearing smart Brentwood pants and looking classy while at work.

I said to myself, I really want to be like that when I grow up, and look at me now, living up to that promise,” said Martin.

This model of note has done magazine appearances and his relationship with the runway has matured over the years.

“I have been a model for a very long time now; I’ve also done some work for the Gallery Square in Sandton, and Africa Fashion Week. I’ve also been the judge in Miss Mpumalanga for three consecutive years, which has been exciting for me I should say,” he added.

Although he’s a stern believer in looking good, Martin expressed his disappointment in what he called a gap between the Lowveld and the Highveld in Mpumalanga.

He felt that the city still had a long way to go in embracing designers and grooming young men to help them understand that there’s nothing wrong with being a metrosexual.

“I am a metrosexual and I also groom other young men to take care of themselves. There’s nothing wrong with holding a male handbag, getting a facial, and working on your nails,” he said, giggling.

“I should also mention that although there’s a fashion gap in the province, I am so happy that fashion week is coming to us this year, and I’m part of it.

People might not know it, but this is so big in the fashion era, we have huge names coming to exhibit and showcase fashion, every upcoming designer and style fanatic should attend. One can’t afford to miss this one, it will be hosted at Riverside on Saturday,” he added.

Clearly Martin’s style and fashion sense is unfathomable, as he has been nominated for the Beauty, Music, and Fashion Awards to be hosted on June 6 at the Civic Centre.

“It’s good to know that while I’m just being me, keeping up with style, some people are noticing and willing to acknowledge that.

They can vote for me by SMSing Martin, Best Male Dresser, to
078-649-3026. Voting closes on May 20. That way, we will all contribute in elevating our city in terms of fashion and style,” he concluded.
