Mpumalanga signed landmark agreement in Italy

This agreement means that the Mpumalanga provincial government through MEGA can now mobilize finance for large-scale infrastructure projects.

MBOMBELA- The investment arm of the Mpumalanga provincial government, MEGA, signed a landmark agreement with an Italian export credit agency, SACE, that provides financial support to Italian companies that are expanding into foreign territories.

This agreement means that the Mpumalanga provincial government through MEGA can now mobilize finance for large-scale infrastructure projects.

The first projects that will benefit from this agreement are the hospital built projects that seeks to modernize healthcare facilities in the province.

This agreement will create an opportunity for South African companies and commercial banks to partner with their Italian counterparts in the implementation of these projects.

These projects form part of the vast array of interventions that were announced by Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza in his state of the province address this year.

“The citizens of Mpumalanga can expect vastly improved service delivery in world-class infrastructure facilities,” said Mabuza.

The Mpumalanga delegation led by Premier Mabuza concludes its mission in Italy today [Friday, 8 May 2015].
