The day eagerly anticipated by Christians and music lovers is almost here, and the excitement is unfathomable. Gospel songstress, Mahalia Buchanan, will be in Mbombela this weekend for her pre-live recording show, which promises to be nothing short of awesome praise and worship.

Mahalia says she is thrilled and looks forward to the show, and so should Lowvelders, as they are in for an unforgettable treat.

“We just want to share the heart of Christ through song and dance. My upcoming album will be titled Redeemed after my latest single. This is to authenticate the fact that God called and redeemed us to worship Him, above all else, we should never shift that focus.

Mbombela and the Lowveld should anticipate a massive move of God during the show, it will be fulfilling,” she adds. This musician says the audience at Emnotweni Arena on May 9 will be the first to hear her latest single performed live.

“I love Mpumalanga, the people are warm and welcoming. I just thought what better way to prepare for my upcoming live recording than with the people with such a humble spirit? The actual recording will take place on June 6 at the Soweto Theatre in Johannesburg.”

Having worked with Joyous Celebration and Past Benjamin Dube for such a long time, Mahalia says she feels she is now ready to go solo, with all the knowledge she gathered from these veterans in the industry.

“I have been privileged to work with such people, they have groomed me so well, I know now that one has to sing about God one knows intimately. It doesn’t have to be about the music, the lifestyle makes up 80 per cent of the whole thing, you need to know your Creator before you sing about Him to the world.”

Mahalia will meet her fans during a meet-and-greet session at Mbombela Plaza on Friday at 15:00.

“Local artists will interact with music lovers and there will be a photo-shoot session as well. Competitions where people will win tickets to the event are also part of the perks, and one lucky person will win VIP experience with Mahalia,” says Doctor Makhubela, her manager.

Tickets are available at Computicket for R150.
