A 21-year-old woman has been raped by an unknown African male at Tonga bridge on Sunday, this is according to Tonga SAPS.
TONGA – A 21-year-old woman has been raped by an unknown African male at Tonga bridge on Sunday, this is according to Tonga SAPS.
The victim has allegedly claimed that she was walking back home from a nearby tavern, when she was approached by an unknown African male at the Tonga bridge who pointed a firearm at her and raped her.
“The suspect apparently pointed her with the firearm and ordered her to undress, after which he raped her. The suspect reported the matter to the police station immediately after the ordeal,” said Tonga SAPS Spokesperson, Lt. Mzwandile Nyambi.
According to Nyambi, the victim is undergoing counselling and treatment. “The matter is still under investigation and we appeal to the community to never walk alone at the bridges as it is dangerous, especially at night,” he added.
